Fall in love with cooler weather…

 In Uncategorized

Some may think this is crazy, but I truly do love Fall. That first crisp day when it is just chilly enough to wear your favourite jeans and cozy sweater causes instant squash soup and apple pie cravings in my household. Being outdoors in the Fall is great, but as we gear up for a whole lot of indoor hours in the coming months, I like to spend some time adding some warmth and nature to my spaces. Here are a couple tips to help you fall in love with Fall in your home…

#1- Bring in nature… this tip comes up a lot in my posts and truthfully there is no wrong time of year to bring in nature. In the fall, I choose natural elements that add visual warmth. Wood, especially rough, barn board or firewood is a great addition. I love this example of decorating with firewood (even if your fireplace is not actually functional),from shelterness.com

#2- Cuddle up with fur (preferably faux fur). This material is hot this season in both clothing and home fashion. With great options available, like this Ombre Faux fur throw from West Elm, it is easy to see why someone would want to sip hot cider under faux fur.

#3- Embrace Fall colours. The fact that we will soon be embarking on the monochrome season of winter doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the brilliant Fall colours around us now! Open your blinds and add some accessories in warm hues like yellow, orange, red, and brown. Even a new piece of artwork could be just what you need. This piece by Patrick St. Germain and available for purchase through Niche for Design, would be a great Fall accent!
